I wanted to incorporate urban typography with city skylines and graffiti aspects. I originally wanted to do stencils on the buildings, but I really liked the paint spatter method. I chose red, blue and yellow because they are triadic colors, while the white contrasted with the paint. JLC stands for my initals, Jacob Levi Carlson.
Architecture Relief
This assignment required combining two different time periods of architecture into one three dimensional structure. I chose the Pre-Colombian times (Myan and Aztec) with the Early Modern style (foundations and beginning of large sky scrapers).
Paper City
Using a limited supply of paper, dowels, paper cement, and other wood, the requirements for this project was to create an architectural structure that displays movement.
This was a replica of a draw bridge, when you pull the ends of the metal wire, the central ends lift upwards.
This had more of an abstract influence to it, because it really doesn't resemble anything specific. Which was the reason why I trapped a question box inside. This bounces around as the wheel continuously moves.
Masking Tape Shoes
First creating a general paper sketch, this assignment was to recreate an exact replica of a shoe, using strictly masking tape.
